Alex Von Furstenberg

Californian Alexander von Furstenberg is the son of world-acclaimed fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg and stepson of media magnate Barry Diller. Alex von Furstenberg is renowned in social circles in the US. He is also a dedicated workhorse — he oversees his family’s businesses and philanthropic commitments.

Alex von Furstenberg is credited for restructuring his mother’s luxury label, the Diane von Furstenberg Studio. At present, he serves in the company as partner and director.

For years now, Alex von Furstenberg has taken a more active role in Arrow Capital Management. He founded Arrow Capital Management, a public equity company, of which he is chief investment officer and co-managing member.

Alex von Furstenberg not only has his hands full with business, but also with philanthropy. He is secretary and director of The Diller – von Furstenberg Family Foundation, which benefits a hodgepodge of nonprofit groups. To date, the foundation has pledged over $30 million worth of grants to numerous causes, including education and the environment.

On top of the foundation, Alex von Furstenberg serves on the board of Friends of the High Line. This is the nonprofit institution of the eponymous New York City park, which launched in 2009. He is also a member of the National Council of ACRIA. Alex Von Furstenburg is also an active member of Heal the Bay, which seeks to clean up California’s Malibu coastline.

Alex von Furstenberg went to Brown University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1993. On the same year, he began working as a risk arbitrage trader on Allen & Co. Alexander von Furstenberg has sat on the board of the conglomerate IAC/InterActiveCorp since 2008. He also serves on the board of a Bermudan asset management company, W.P. Stewart & Co.
