The $130 million company transmits and discloses hundreds of thousands of news releases, regulatory filings, and multimedia content of its member companies and organizations to financial professionals, journalists, regulatory authorities, and the public through NX, its own electronic network.
As Business Wire’s president and CEO, Cathy Baron Tamraz runs the company’s operations and oversees its strategic planning, global branding and international expansion efforts. She started her career in Business Wire’s San Francisco Office in 1979 and soon opened the firm’s New York Office a year after. She lead the New York region in 1987 and eventually became a member of the firm’s executive team as a Vice President in 1990. Because of her dedication and impressive people skills, Cathy was named to several executive positions: senior vice president in 1994; executive vice president in 1998, chief operating officer in 2000; president in 2003; and CEO in 2005.
Cathy Baron Tamraz and the excellent corporate management team of Business Wire were instrumental in the firm’s March 2006 acquisition by Warren Buffett’s Fortune 12 investment firm Berkshire Hathaway. Getting handpicked by the financial giant says a great deal about the company. Indeed, one of Buffett’s top reasons for completing the acquisition is Business Wire’s impressive growth potential and its experienced management team.
