Mayo Shattuck III
Mayo A. Shattuck III was born in 1954 in Massachusetts, U.S.A. Unlike the two elder Shattucks who finished their education at Harvard University, Mayo Shattuck III earned his BA degree from Williams College and his master in business administration from Stanford University. He graduated from his MBA in 1980 as an Arjay Miller Scholar. Mayo Shattuck III also received an honorary degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
Mayo Shattuck’s business career began in 1985 when he worked as managing director of Alex. Brown & Sons, and as President and Chief Operating Officer in 1991. Alex. Brown & Sons is the first investment bank in the United States founded in 1800. It merged with Bankers Trust Corporation in 1997 and Mayo Shattuck III served as its vice chairman. Bankers Trust Corporation later merged with Deutsche Bank in 1999. In Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown (American division), he became co-chairman and co-CEO. A couple of years later, in September 2001, he resigned from Deutsche Bank.
In November 2001, Mayo Shattuck was appointed president and chief executive officer of Constellation Energy Group. Constellation Energy Group is a Fortune 200 company that engages in the power generation and marketing business serving the state of Maryland.
Among Mayo Shattuck’s affiliations include positions as director of Gap Inc., an apparel store company based in San Francisco, California; as director of Capital One Financial Corporation, a financial credit company based in McLean, Virginia; a member of the board of Edison Electric Institute; a Board of Director in the Nuclear Energy Institute and in the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations; a member of the Board of Trustees of Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland; and as a member of the Advisory Council of Stanford’s Graduate School of Business.
Mayo Shattuck married Molly Shattuck in 1997 and they now have three children. They met when Molly was working as a Marketing Associate for Alex. Brown & Sons, Inc. Molly Shattuck was also a cheerleader for the Baltimore Ravens in the National Football League. She made history when she became the oldest cheerleader for NFL.
