Nathaniel Lipman

Nathaniel Lipman is currently the CEO and President of Affinion Group. The Affinion Group is the parent company of numerous enterprises, including the loyalty program company Trilegiant Corporation, the Affinion Loyalty Group, Affinion Benefits Group, and Affinion International.

Nathaniel Lipman has a long and varied corporate history. A graduate of UC Berkeley, Nathaniel Lipman received his Juris Doctorate from UCLA in 1989. Nathaniel Lipman was able to use his knowledge about mergers with the Los Angeles law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher, and Flom. His first major role was serving as General Counsel for the Walt Disney Company. As the General Counsel, Nathaniel Lipman was responsible for setting up mutually beneficial collaborations between Disney and companies such as General Electric, American Express, and Ralston Purina. He also played a role in the development of the Mighty Ducks, the NHL hockey team.

After Disney, Nathaniel Lipman served as the Senior Vice President and General Counsel for the House of Blues Entertainment, Inc., which owns the famous chain of music bars and restaurants. At this position, he managed legal and business development structures. From there, Nathaniel Lipman moved on to Planet Hollywood, serving as the Senior Executive Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategic Planning, a position he held from 1996 to 1999. During those years, Planet Hollywood saw a rapid expansion.

Nathaniel Lipman became involved with Affinion during a very crucial period. In 1999, he joined Cedant as the Senior Vice President of Business Development and Strategic Planning. In March of 2000, he became closely involved in the loyalty program industry when he became the Executive Vice President of Business Development for Cendant Membership Services. In September of the following year, Nathaniel Lipman became a member of the Trilegiant team.

Trilegiant, which first started in 1973, has since grown to serve more than 25 million customers. Trilegiant offers a wide range of membership-based providers, including travel, shopping, health, dental, entertainment, and customer protection services. Nathaniel Lipman began as Trilegiant’s Senior Executive Vice President of Business Development and Marketing, where he managed sales, business development, account management, and marketing functions. Starting in August of 2002, Nathaniel Lipman was promoted to the President and CEO of Trilegiant. Under Nathaniel Lipman’s leadership, Trilegiant greatly expanded with its wide range of services, such as Clever Clubhouse, CompleteHome, and HealthSaver, and Great Fun.

After Cedant and Affinion were merged, Nathaniel Lipman assumed leadership of the rapidly expanding corporation. Affinion is currently a global leader in creating incremental revenue for more than 5,300 affinity partners, with revenues reaching $1.3 billion. These partnerships include many of the Fortune 500 companies. Affinion, under Nathaniel Lipman’s leadership, has become the go-to business for direct sales, telemarketing, and online marketing. Affinion is also a leader on online security, and is one of the major players in the fight against identity theft.
