Sergey Brin

Sergey Brin, a well known Russian-American computer scientist, was born on the 21st of August 1973. He is best known as the cofounder of the world’s largest Internet company, Google Inc. With a net worth of $17.5 billion, Sergey Brin was hailed as the 4th richest person in the world by the prestigious Forbes magazine.

Sergey Brin earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland. Right after graduation, he immediately moved to Stanford to work on his Ph.D. in computer science. While working on his degree, Sergey Brin met Larry Page, who would eventually turn out as his Google cofounder.

Crammed in a small dormitory room, the pair started tinkering with inexpensive computers and worked on applying Sergey Brin’s data mining system to develop a superior search engine. After their program gained much popularity inside the Stanford campus, both Sergey Brin and Larry Page took a break from their studies to focus more on starting and developing Google in a small rented garage.

For having developed one of the world’s most superior search engines, Sergey Brin and his partner Larry page both received numerous awards and recognitions such as the Marconi Foundation Prize from the Marconi Foundation in Columbia University.
