Sergio Marchionne

Sergio Marchionne is the current CEO of Fiat S.p.A. as well as Chrysler Group LLC. When he became the carmaker’s CEO in 2004, Fiat badly needed to boost its performance as the company was listing. Sergio Marchionne was born in Italy to a family whose patriarch was a member of the local police force. When he was still in his teens, the family moved to Canada, where he earned remarkable credentials, becoming a lawyer and a chartered accountant. He also attended some of the finest academic institutions in the country, earning a degree in philosophy from the University of Toronto, an MBA from the University of Windsor, and a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School.

He started his career as an accountant and tax specialist for the professional service organization Deloitte and Touche in Canada. In addition, Sergio Marchionne, moved up the ranks and worked with several other prestigious companies until his curriculum vitae became studded with impressive work experiences at international companies.

In addition to heading Fiat and Chrysler, Sergio Marchionne is also the chairman of SGS, which provides inspection and certification services, as well as a member of the board of directors of UBS, a global financial services company.
